Brainspotting Therapy
Brainspotting is a body-based therapy shaped by neuroscience. It starts from a simple observation: where we look can affect how we feel. By finding an eye position linked to an emotional or physical response, called a brainspot, therapy can reach experiences that are hard to put into words.
Camila Richmond, LCSW, is a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner and offers Brainspotting online for adults in English or Portuguese. Sessions take place over secure video from a quiet, private place of your choosing.

Reaching What Words Cannot
Many people know their story well and still feel stuck. Brainspotting works with the body's felt sense more than with explanation, and you do not need to retell everything that happened. It is not only for moments of crisis. It can be your first experience of therapy or complement work you are already doing.
Trauma held in the body rather than in clear memories
Anxiety, tension, or overwhelm without an obvious cause
Feeling numb or emotionally shut down
Creative or performance blocks and a sense of being stuck
Relationship wounds that insight alone has not resolved
Sessions are paced by you. Camila helps you stay within a range that feels tolerable, adapts each session to your capacity that day, and keeps the process collaborative, so you remain in charge of how deep to go.

What Happens in a Brainspotting Session
Checking In
Each session opens with a short check-in. You bring to mind what you want to work on and notice where you feel it in your body and how strongly. Camila stays attentive from the start. There is no need to share every detail.
Finding the Brainspot
Camila slowly guides your gaze across your field of vision, often with a pointer you follow on screen. Together you notice where a reaction shifts, such as a blink, a swallow, or a change in feeling. That eye position, the brainspot, becomes the focus.
Processing at Your Pace
With your eyes resting on that spot, you observe what unfolds: sensations, emotions, images, or quiet. You move at your own pace while Camila stays present and attuned. Sessions end with time to ground, integrate what came up, and reflect.
